PROJECT DETAILS

About the Project

Project Swasti is designed with a minimalist sensibility, bringing together all essential living spaces within a well-planned three-storey structure. The layout ensures smooth circulation and ease of access, while the use of exterior cladding adds a distinctive and contemporary character to the home.

The architectural expression is defined by strong vertical elements balanced with horizontal planes, creating a rhythmic and harmonious façade. Simple yet elegant in form, the residence reflects thoughtful design and successfully fulfills the client’s functional and aesthetic requirements.

Spatial Planning

Swasti’s spatial planning revolves around a family-first approach and its most sacred element: a centrally located, double-height Pooja space. Unlike typical residences where religious areas are sequestered, here the Pooja room becomes a powerful architectural gesture.

Bathed in natural light through a large skylight above and wrapped by a calming water feature, the space sits in meditative silence—both spiritually grounding and visually dramatic.

Emotional & Architectural Significance

Swasti holds deep emotional and symbolic value—it is the very first built project of the lead architect at Stonespire Architects, conceived during their fourth year of architecture college. What began as a hands-on learning experience soon transformed into a full-scale residential commission, supported by the client’s trust and shared vision.

Colors & Textures

Gray dominates the home’s elevation and interiors—not as a trend, but as a canvas. This allows textures to play freely: natural stone finishes, jolly walls at the entrance, and a striking 4mm-thick metal partition wall weighing over 1.5 tons that subtly delineates spaces while adding sculptural depth.

Sustainable Strategies

One of Swasti’s most effective sustainable decisions lies in its ventilation strategy. Using the stack effect, warm air rises and escapes through terrace-mounted exhaust fans, allowing cooler air to flow naturally. This eliminates the need for air conditioning in common areas, keeping the home comfortably cool through passive means.

The Layout

The home features three bedrooms, an open kitchen, a gym, and a terrace party space, all designed with openness and connectivity in mind. The foyer, living area, sit-out, and Pooja space are visually and physically interlinked—encouraging connection while preserving comfort.

Richness in Meaning

In an age of superficial luxury, Swasti finds richness in meaning. It is a home shaped by light, air, stone, and soul—designed not just to look good, but to feel lived in and to age with grace.

The Axis

The central axis becomes the home’s gravitational core—around which the foyer, living, dining, and sit-out subtly orbit. Whether entering through the northeast-facing entry or moving toward the terrace, the Pooja remains in sight—a quiet reminder of balance, mindfulness, and unity.

Indian Spatial Planning

Designed with intrinsic sensitivity, the house balances contemporary cues with the nuanced intimacy of Indian spatial planning—where courtyards, shared spaces, and symbolic thresholds shape the emotional geometry of a home.
